Throughout March 2026, volunteers from Republic Polytechnic supported the organisation’s day-to-day operations. The collaboration saw students packing and distributing donated essentials while also spending time interacting with migrant workers in the community.
At the registration point, volunteers welcomed workers warmly while checking identification cards and work permits. The process was handled efficiently and respectfully, helping every visitor feel seen and valued from the moment they arrived.
Inside, the atmosphere was purposeful yet inviting. Students moved through shelves of neatly arranged supplies, sorting donations such as clothing, food and daily necessities. At one station, volunteers carefully inspected recycled bottles to ensure they were clean and suitable for reuse before placing them into the correct categories.

Beyond logistics, the experience was deeply human. Conversations flowed easily as students engaged migrant workers, turning the space into more than a distribution centre, it became a place of connection and community.
“Through this experience, I learnt the importance of empathy and clear communication when serving different communities,” shared student volunteer Sadhana, reflecting on the meaningful interactions formed during the session.
For Mr Mahmudul Makmudin, the organisation has become an important source of support. Introduced to ItsRainingRaincoats through friends, he now encourages others to visit, a reflection of the trust it has built within the migrant worker community. Through the initiative, he receives essentials such as water bottles and bags, helping him stretch his monthly salary further.
Like many migrant workers, Mahmudul came to Singapore in search of better opportunities. In his free time, he often watches videos on his phone, though he fondly recalls playing cricket with friends back home, a reminder of the life and memories he carries across borders.
“It is very helpful to us,” he said, expressing gratitude for the continued support and sense of belonging the organisation provides.
