Media Camp 2022: Building bridges and binding bonds

Media Camp is not just a chance to learn more about the media industry and sharpen communication skills, it also offers an opportunity for coursemates to network and build camaraderie with one another.

As part of the two-day-long Media Camp competition, 20 groups of first-year Mass Communication students were tasked to create a content package consisting of an article, social media posts, and a video to promote the brand Ikea. (PHOTO: Felicity Oh)
The atmosphere was nothing but lively and vibrant on the second day of the camp as teammates gathered to discuss and work on their three deliverables for the competition. (PHOTO: Felicity Oh)

Though Lim Rui Heng and Tiffany Lim did not know each other prior to the camp, they shared that the camp helped them to become acquainted and work together more effectively. The content package served as a common goal for them to strive toward, and it aided their bonding process. (PHOTO: Felicity Oh)

The final task of the media camp competition was to give a 10-minute long presentation on the three deliverables to a panel of judges from TBWA, an international advertising agency. (PHOTO: Stacy Chew)
After the presentation, teammates celebrated and shared congratulatory words with one another. High fives and other encouraging gestures were exchanged enthusiastically. (PHOTO: Felicity Oh)
While waiting for all the teams to present their deliverables, games like Musical Chairs, Charades, and Scribble Telephone were set up to further encourage bonding between the first-years and student leaders. (PHOTO: Felicity Oh) 
Mr Tui Jurn Mun, director of the School of Management and Communication, shared that Media Camp was a meaningful and rewarding experience that allowed students to take learning out of the classroom. (PHOTO: Stacy Chew)
